It's mid summer. The tuna are just to the south. Sharks are around and still no stripers. The Kennebec river has been fishing very well for the first time in 5 years. I'll be offering a trip to the Kennebec next year. It's a bit of a ride to Bath but you have to follow the fish!

I just got informed by Cheryl Daigle of the Penobscot Restoration Trust that my op editorial and my picture is now up on their website. She had asked me a few weeks ago if I would give her a pic of me on my boat. I picked out a nice one of me and young Liam Macnamara . I'm pleased that I can help with the whole project as I am a huge supporter of the dams being removed and bypassed....Once the project gets completed there will be over 1000 miles of spawning habitat available for diadromous ( sea run) fish! We're talking millions and millions of Alewives, Blue Back Herring, Shad and others utilizing the river to propagate their species...The predators will have a field day when they have all that food at their disposal!!! check it out and also check out the whole site...very educational!

I built and donated a custom Fly Rod to the Atlantic Salmon Museum folks last fall.
They've been raffling it since then and I think they've raised 6 or 7 hundred dollars via the raffle. I got a call today from Richard Hill the president of the museum . He said the winner is meeting him and the press at the hatchery in Orland, Maine on Monday Sept. 21 at 2 pm to present the rod, take photo's and do an interview for a press release! As the person who crafted and donated the rod I've been invited to share in the presentation... I will be there and am very excited that I could help such a worthy organization and my own small way...
I will put pics on here and my blog after the event...All are welcome!
Craig Brook Fish Hatchery just off rt 1A in Orland Maine Monday Sept 21 at 2 pm!
